A Neighbor Who Knows This Community
Shane Romsos has deep roots in the South Lake Tahoe community, first settled in South Lake Tahoe in 1972 and returning in 1997 after completing graduate studies in Wildlife and Natural Resources. He understands the challenges facing local residents and ratepayers, from aging infrastructure to the pressures of climate extremes. Shane is running because he believes the utility district deserves a Director who is engaged, informed, and genuinely committed to the long-term well-being of the community and its future.
With a background in natural resources research and management, Shane brings practical experience and a steady hand to the complex decisions facing the District. He's not a politician, he's a neighbor and professional who wants to make sure South Tahoe's water and resources are protected for the long haul.
Shane Romsos has served on the STPUD Board of Directors since 2020, building a record of steady, results-driven leadership for South Lake Tahoe's water and sewer utility. He's not a career politician, he's a neighbor who has done the work, and he's asking for the opportunity to keep doing it.
During his time on the board, Shane helped guide the District through a period of meaningful transformation, from maintaining aging infrastructure to strategically modernizing the utility for future generations. That work touched every corner of the District: clean water, stronger finances, smarter planning, and a more resilient system for the community.
He is running for re-election because the job isn't finished. The challenges ahead: aging infrastructure, climate resilience, wildfire risk, and long-term affordability require experienced, engaged leadership. Shane brings that, along with a genuine commitment to transparency and accountability.
